ICAO Level 4, 5 and 6 Audio Examples: Compare Answers

Compare ICAO level 4, 5 and 6 audio examples and choose the practice model each scripted answer most closely resembles.

BRIEFING

Listen for how an answer is built

These ICAO level 4, 5 and 6 audio examples are scripted practice models, voiced by synthetic speakers. Listen for how each answer uses vocabulary, connects ideas and handles uncertainty; where a picture appears, compare the description with what you can actually see.

Choose the intended teaching model, then read the explanation. These short, prepared clips are not real assessments: they cannot establish the full range of Pronunciation, Structure, Vocabulary, Fluency, Comprehension and Interactions. An ICAO overall rating is the lowest of the six skill ratings.

  1. Read the task and inspect the picture when shown.
  2. Listen to the candidate and choose the closest practice model.
  3. Check the reasoning; do not treat a match as a personal level result.

FAQ

Common questions

How do these ICAO level 4, 5 and 6 audio examples work?

Listen to each scripted answer and choose the teaching model it most resembles. The explanations point to features of the response and the limits of the comparison.

Can listening to one answer determine an ICAO level?

No. An overall assessment considers six skills. One prepared recording cannot establish a person’s spontaneous comprehension, interaction and performance across the range of tasks.

Which ICAO English skills are rated?

Pronunciation, Structure, Vocabulary, Fluency, Comprehension and Interactions are rated. The overall level is the lowest of the six scores, not their average.

Are these real candidate recordings?

No. They are original scripted responses voiced by synthetic speakers for practice. They are not recordings of real test candidates.

Is ICAO Level 4 enough for international radiotelephony?

Level 4 is the ICAO minimum for radiotelephony on international operations. Check the requirements and accepted tests with your licensing authority.
